On March 24, 2015, Women in Art Initiative launched a photo campaign to celebrate the national Support Women Artists Now (SWAN) Day. SWAN Day is an international holiday designed to showcase the power and diversity of women’s creativity. We designed a photo frame (printed “I Support Women Artists Now”) and headed off to campus to take photographs with people walking on Locust Walk. Over the span of three days leading up to March 26 (when our panel discussion on Women Artists: Representation, Recognition and Promotion was hosted), we took 86 photos with 125 people and received over 4,000 clicks on Facebook. This photo campaign was successful in spreading awareness about the importance to support women artists and SWAN Day, promoting our organization, reaching new members, and having loads of fun!
